Edwards' Machine & Tool

Edwards' Machine & Tool Shop

Edwards’ Machine & Tool’s mission is to build lasting customer relationships and to provide quality, machined products at a competitive price. Concentration is on prototype and development machining, and is also capable of producing small part runs using CNC equipment and manual machines. The company was founded in 2000 and is owned and operated by Ruben Edwards.

Mr. Edwards is a Navy veteran whose career was in the aviation field. In 1985, he was employed by The Boeing Company and excelled in the tooling department. Fascinated with building highly unique and precise machinery, Mr. Edwards decided to start his own machine and tool business after 15 years with Boeing.

Edwards’ Machine & Tool is capable of machining 3D model surfaces from solid modeling drawings using 3-axis machining methods as well as the fabrication of small tools and fixtures. In-house design and engineering services are also provided as well as the ability to outsource services for heat treat, special plating processes, and more with certifications.

Mr. Edwards specializes in research and development projects resulting in one-of-a-kind products made from special alloys, composites and plastics. He has helped develop experimental CAT technology for the rotorcraft industry and through Edwards’ Machine & Tool, built a 36-inch rotor section with GILLS technology as a demonstrator for The Boeing Company. Another project included a 32-inch 2D wind tunnel model with GILLS actuation and pressure instrumentation porting for NASA Ames. NASA Ames has also recently contracted a wind tunnel test model of a ¼ scale MD900 fuselage section with similar hardware.

Edwards’ Machine & Tool operates a clean, climate controlled 1200-sq ft facility located in Mesa, Arizona. The facility is small and discrete, ideal for the low visibility situations often required for research and development projects.
